Councillor Paul Marshall – Leader of West Sussex County Council
Paul has been Leader of West Sussex County Council since 2019 after being elected as a County Councillor and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People 6 years ago. Paul has experience of change management through his work in local government, as well as in the retail and leisure industries where he focused on marketing, supply chain, stores, and strategic growth. He lives in Washington village with his wife and they enjoy an active country lifestyle. Paul’s family have interests in horses and dogs, and he is a Trustee of RSPCA Mount Noddy.
The Leader of West Sussex County Council, Cllr Paul Marshall, will give attendees an update on the Government’s Devolution Priority Programme, focusing on the implications for the West Sussex economy. He will outline the enhanced powers that a Strategic Combined Authority and elected Mayor will have and how these new responsibilities such as strategic planning and long-term investment will open the door to opportunities for economic growth in the county. Additionally, he will give an update on the separate, but related, issue of local government reorganisation.
