Have you ever been in a situation where somebody automatically assumed something about you, your interests, hobbies or talents that was not true ? Have you ever made an automatic assumption about somebody in work or in your social life that you later found out was incorrect ?
In this session we will be exploring:
- What unconscious bias is and how it works?
- How our unconscious judgements lead us to bias decisions and the impact this has on both individuals and organisations?
- What steps can be taken to manage and reduce bias in the workplace?
This session will be led by Moira Blake, Head of Organisational Development at the University of Sussex. Moira has responsibility for leading on Equality and Diversity training and development for all staff at the University and designed and co-delivered Unconscious Bias training at the University for the last 5 years.
