Don't be caught out by the taxation of promotion agreements!

Kreston Reeves and PDT Solicitors are holding a free seminar for the property industry and landowners on the Taxation of Promotion Agreements on Friday 22 November in Horsham.

Aimed at house builders, developers, landlords, commercial agents, property managers, business owners and landowners, this is a practical session covering a variety of issues including:

  • The tax and VAT implications of promotion agreements
  • The matters you will need to consider when entering into them
  • Practical case studies
  • Legal and accounting Q & A

Jo White, Tax Consultant at Kreston Reeves comments: "Promotion agreements are attractive to landowners and developers for various reasons. For developers it means they don't have to raise finance and buy the land/property first before planning permission is secured, which could take many years. For the landowner, they don't have to incur some of the fees up front, as these are usually paid at the end once the land is sold. Payment might be made in stages or in one go and understanding how this affects your tax position is important. Given the complexity of these types of agreement it is really important to get up to date and independent legal and tax advice before you enter into one, otherwise you might be exposing yourself or your business to significant tax charges. This is a practical seminar which looks at many of the typical issues and how they can be addressed."
