Seeking SMEs to engage in Net Zero project

MicroSEM project: understanding how to engage with micro and small businesses for Net Zero

Small businesses in the UK have a key part to play in reducing UK carbon emissions to Net Zero by 2050. We are researching how to better engage with them.

In the UK, small and medium size businesses collectively emit around half of Uk's business sector carbon emissions. However it is estimates that 76% of small and medium businesses are yet to implement decarbonisation strategies with only 3% having measured their carbon emissions to set reduction targets,

MicroSME is a project led by a team at the University of Sussex Business School, which aimes to understand how to better engage with the UK's smallest businesses for supporting their transition to Net Zero. For this purpose, we will conduct a series of activities in 2 phases:

  • Interviews (50 minutes)
  • Focuz group (90 minutes)

We are able to offer £100 as a thank you token for participating in the focus group discussion. Register your interest at fg90@sussex.ac.uk and r.hiteva@sussex.ac.uk
