SOGEA Broadband & Data Protection: The Future is Now

The time for action is NOW

SOGEA - Single Order Generic Ethernet Access

Since 2014, the UK telecoms industry has been reviewing the analogue phone services organisations, and consumers use across the UK.

The old phone network is fast approaching the end of its useful life. Designed and implemented in the 1870s, the infrastructure can no longer support increased demand and is becoming more complicated and costly to maintain.

To support this change, we are moving our customers onto SOGEA services. SOGEA is a standalone service that eliminates the need for an analogue line where Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) is unavailable. This can reduce costs and simplify support.

The impending switch to digital offers an excellent opportunity to take stock of your telephony assets and focus on the bigger picture because the systems you put in place today can help your organisation save time and money in the long run.

WINDOWS 8.1

The Windows 8.1 era is over. Microsoft stopped support of Windows 8.1 on 10 January 2023.

This is important to mention that Windows 8.1 will now be vulnerable to attacks as updates are no longer being released. It's likely that these machines will not be capable of supporting the latest Windows 11, Microsoft stated - the reason being the strict CPU requirements. Therefore, the best option for Windows 8.1 users is to get a new PC with pre-installed Windows 11 versions. Users on a budget can update to Windows 10 versions. Wessex IT can support you through this change.

DATA PRIVACY

Preventing data breaches requires protecting your devices, network, and users. Unfortunately, technology by itself is not enough to protect data. Why not get in touch with our team to see how we can provide robust security to your data privacy?

  • Encryption is a way to conceal information by scrambling it so that it appears to be random data. Only parties with the encryption key can unscramble the information.
  • Access control ensures that only authorised parties access systems and data. In addition, access control can be combined with data loss prevention (DLP) to stop sensitive data from leaving the network.
  • Two-factor authentication is one of the most critical technologies for regular users, making it harder for attackers to gain unauthorised access to personal accounts.
