East Surrey College gains RICS accreditation – The first College in the Country!

East Surrey College is excited to announce we have been awarded RICS accreditation for our new Quantity Surveying Degree. This is an outstanding achievement and one not matched by any other College in England.

We have been offering the Quantity Surveying Degree for a while in conjunction with University of Chichester. We saw a gap in the market and an opportunity to make the qualification simpler to achieve without taking away any of the quality of the course. Currently to qualify, students undergo 6 years of education, including work placement before gaining RICS accreditation, which is needed to work in industry.

The College worked closely with RICS to ensure the course still gave students the same opportunities and skills required to work as a Quantity Surveyor, but we also saw we could cut the time down to 4 years. The course has been designed for surveyors and we will keep class sizes small to educate students in an intimate, tangible and supported learning environment.

Director of Apprenticeships, Ian Edmunds said, "We are thrilled to be the only College in the country to be awarded this accreditation. We have worked hard alongside the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to ensure this robust offering is the right choice for businesses and Quantity Surveyors."

This is now the fastest route in the world from start to qualification. This exciting development will see our first cohort join us in September 2024.
