gdb Member RPD takes on its very own Iron Man Challenge for charity

Crawley based accountancy firm, Richard Place Dobson (RPD), is taking on its very own Iron Man Challenge in aid of St Barnabas House. The charity, which is based in Worthing and provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses at the hospice and in the comfort of patients' homes across West Sussex, is RPD's charity of the year.

The Iron Man Challenge is just one of the events RPD is hosting over 12 months to raise money for St Barnabas House to help fund its 20-bed in-patient unit, day hospice, community palliative care team, hospice at home service, family services team, and education department which supports patients and their families during a difficult time in their lives.

Throughout the first few weeks of August, the RPD team will be completing a cycle, swim, run, and walk to raise funds for St Barnabas House. The challenge kicks off with
• a 180km cycle on an exercise bike in the office from Monday 5th - Wednesday 7th August,
• followed by a 3.8km swimming relay at the K2 in Crawley on Thursday 8th August,
• then a 42km run as part of the UK Triathlon's South Coast Run event in Seaford on Sunday 11th August,
• and finally, a 3.7km walk from the office to the Tavern on the Green pub on Thursday 15th August.

Matthew Tyson, Managing Director at RPD, said: "The team throw themselves into every charity event every year to raise lots of money for worthwhile causes. We're ready and raring to go for our Iron Man Challenge, although you may want to stay away from the office between Monday 5th and Wednesday 7th August as we'll be cycling away on the exercise bike and may be a bit sweaty!"

Every year, RPD chooses a charity to support and the team host a range of fun events to raise money for worthy causes. Recently, the team at RPD filled their buckets, grabbed their sponges, and washed cars in their office car park, and locally at Basepoint Business Centre's car park. They have many fun activities you can take part in, such as their sell-out quiz night in February 2020, and upcoming footgolf event on 12th September at Gatwick Footgolf.
