Haywards Heath-based business Growth by Design scoops New Business of the Year at the 10th Anniversary of the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards held at Effingham Park Hotel. Last night’s awards celebrated people and businesses who have shown innovation and inspiration in their work, and have demonstrated a real commitment to the sub-region. The awards have become one of the region’s premier business occasions - celebrating the best of the best across the Gatwick Diamond. This year’s awards were presented by the award-winning comedy legend, star of stage and screen and, more recently, a popular contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, Brian Conley.
Tim Rylatt had a lightbulb moment in early 2016 when he realised that a combination of his business growth coaching firm and his friend Henry Laker’s marketing business could create the perfect support for local businesses. A company that could complete all the marketing tasks a business owner required but with regular touch points so they really understand the impact of activities and how they can turn the sales funnel on and off to achieve their growth objectives. Growth by Design was born!
Henry says, “I’m delighted we’ve won this award. I say ‘we’ because it is a team effort and every member contributed. It’s our unified working approach and the idea that everyone has contributed - with their various personal and business experience viewpoint - to the service model design and delivery that made the difference. By working in a way which values different perspectives on challenges, we’ve created some client-focused, results-focused marketing packages that are truly different. We’ve had contributions from those skilled in marketing, fashion, digital, communication, business strategy and more.”
Tim says, “The interview stage of the judging process was interesting and challenging! We were asked not just about what we do, but how we approach it, what values and culture our team and ourselves live by. We had to think hard about who we were and it reminded me that the creation of jobs both within our own company through growth, but also through our clients’ growth is exciting and motivating to us all. We are over the moon to have won this recognition, and it inspires us about what is still to come!”
Stephanie George from the award sponsor, Basepoint Business Centres, explains why Growth by Design took the title for New Business of the Year, “They clearly demonstrated their unique nature, making them stand out from the crowd in what is a very saturated market. They showed incredible passion for helping their clients in a holistic way, with this ethos obviously running throughout the whole company. We were particularly impressed by the personal development opportunities provided for their team and felt that this will help them achieve their plans for growth. It was also clear to see that this business has the potential to grow and be around for a very long time.”
