That's what I call… enterTRAINment!

  • Southern teams up with regional theatres to encourage customers to support local arts
  • New partnership offers limited-edition discount to customers who travel to the theatre by train

This autumn, rail company Southern is putting local theatres centre-stage with an exciting new partnership that promises to thoroughly entertrain. Teaming up with top regional theatres across its network, the company is offering customers the chance to claim exclusive discounts on spectacular shows in October and November.

With theatres finally being able to pull up the curtains after more than a year of closure, the rail operator is taking the opportunity to support the arts community and highlight smaller, more independent venues that will really benefit from some extra support.

Working with selected theatres - from Portsmouth, Chichester and Brighton, to Croydon, St Albans and Cambridge - the #entertrainment campaign offers limited-edition discounts on top shows for those who travel by train with Southern or its sister brands, Thameslink and Great Northern.

Chris Fowler, Customer Services Director for Southern, said: "We have some fantastic theatres on our route and it's great to be partnering with Chichester Festival Theatre, Fairfield Halls, Kings Theatre and Brighton's Theatre Royal to bring our customers exclusive discount on performances. It's easy to get to these venues by train so we really hope this inspires people to visit somewhere new this autumn."

Jessica Blake-Lobb, Marketing Manager, from Chichester Festival Theatre, commented: "Chichester Festival Theatre is delighted to be partnering with Southern to encourage people to take the train and experience the world premiere of Andrea Levy's The Long Song in one of England's most striking playhouses. We hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to see this epic, moving and life-affirming stage adaptation by Suhayla El-Bushra and we look forward to working with Southern."

John Baldock, Theatre Director of the Theatre Royal Brighton, added: "We are absolutely delighted to have the doors of Theatre Royal Brighton open again! Situated in the heart of Brighton's cultural quarter, our theatre, normally buzzing with life, has stood dark for the first time in its history. We are excited to work with Southern to encourage visitors to return to our beautiful city and to enjoy the magic of live theatre once again!"

Kevin Quilty, General manager at Fairfield Halls Croydon, said: "We are delighted to be working on the entertrainment campaign, which supports regional theatres and is helping to encourage people back to enjoy the thrill of live events. It has been a very difficult period for everyone and devasting to many in the sector. Looking ahead we have an exciting programme of shows and events lined up at Fairfield Halls and are very much looking forward to welcoming patrons back."

Nick Boaden, Marketing Manager at Kings Theatre, Portsmouth said: "This autumn, we'll be showcasing a fantastic selection of touring productions, hilarious comedy and a vibrant line-up of music, dance and cabaret. We're so excited to welcome people back to Kings Theatre and by teaming up with Southern, we hope to encourage people out of the house and on the train to come and see one of our brilliant performances."

The #entertrainment partnership will be live from October until December. To find out more information and book tickets, visit:
