Your November business and tax updates

Welcome to our November newsletter. Well done to England for their terrific win yesterday at the World Cup, and for advancing to the knockout stage!
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt delivered his Autumn Statement earlier this month among a great deal of speculation, following former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's disastrous 'Plan for Growth' announcement in September. Our tax team have summarised the key points in our Summary guide, which also contains some reactions from the team.
November was also awards season. I'd like to extend our congratulations to all the winners and finalists of the Adur & Worthing Business Awards, which took place on 4 November, as well as the Made in the South East Awards on 17 November. Some of our team were delighted to be in attendance and present awards at both events. You can take a look at the winners on our website, and hopefully be inspired to enter next year if you didn't this year!
I am also very excited to announce the launch of our Trainee Programme for 2023. With opportunities available across all our departments, trainees will benefit from our Platinum-accredited scheme as well as the ongoing support to achieve their career goals. If you know someone who may be interested, please encourage them to apply. If they need more information, we're running a Day in the Life series to help them gain some insight into what it's like to be a trainee at our fantastic firm.
Finally, were you able to get all your Christmas shopping done using Black Friday deals? It's become a bit of a frenzy here in the UK, after its import from the US by Asda in 2013. You can find out more about the history of Black Friday and the expected impact on the economy this Christmas.
I hope you enjoy this newsletter.
