Your May business and tax updates - May 2023

Welcome to our May newsletter (well it's 1 June but May has passed by rather quickly, with 3 long Bank Holiday weekends)!
As part of our 100-year celebrations, we threw a party for staff to thank them for their hard work and dedication. The theme was Dress to Impress through the Ages, and they didn't disappoint! From flappers to bell bottoms, everyone looked amazing. Our team here at Carpenter Box are the backbone of the firm, and it was fantastic to celebrate them this month.
I want to thank each and every one who help drive this business forward, supporting our clients and the wider business community, as well as their commitment to charity and philanthropy through our Carpenter Box Charitable Foundation. We're also well on our way to meeting our £50,000 target for the year. You can read more below on the Isle of Wight walk we took part in this month, as well as the Sports and Social working group's activities, as part of our fundraising drive.
In this month's newsletter, we have details of a few upcoming events. If you're in the construction industry and want to find out more about the benefits of net zero for your business, register for our event on 16th June. And for manufacturing businesses, our latest METALL event on 20th June will cover how robotics and automation can aid productivity. You can find more details and register for the free events below.
We have also released our latest issue of South East Property Newsletter, which looks at sustainability in the sector.
If you have any questions or concerns please speak to your usual Carpenter Box contact or get in touch with our team.

What does it mean to have Net Zero Emissions?

Net zero emissions refers to achieving a balance between the total amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere and the total amount removed from it.

This equilibrium can be attained through various approaches, including emission reductions, carbon capture and storage, and the expansion of forested areas.
In this blog we break down the advantages and methods of achieving net zero emissions.
