This was the first gala event which has supported the newly merged Southern Hospice Group and received an incredible donation of £23,234 from fundraising on the night.
This year’s event was headlined by legendary 80’s stars Toyah Wilcox and Cheryl Baker, who brought fantastic energy and insight into their illustrious careers. Toyah shared highlights from her groundbreaking appearances on Top of the Pops and reflected on her experiences on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, while Cheryl recounted her memorable win at Eurovision in 1981 with Bucks Fizz, her appearances on Dancing on Ice, and a special feature on EastEnders, with hopes to return to the iconic square in the future. Both stars offered behind-the-scenes stories, from filming Quadrophenia on the streets of Brighton to chart-topping hits and television fame.
The evening saw clinical colleagues from across the organisation attend after a generous donation of tickets from Best of British Events to thank them for their hard work. We also heard from CEO, Stuart Palma, who spoke on the financial difficulties of the hospice sector and encouraged corporate supporters in the room to get involved and support our recently launched, Winter Campaign. Stuart’s speech ended with a tribute to our clinical teams across the organisation, both in the room and at home, where there was a roar of applause from guests who showed their compassion for the commitment of our teams.
