As Christmas approaches, the Golden Lion Children's Trust is preparing for some of the most important and enjoyable events in our calendar, all focused on creating special experiences for local children and families.
On 10 December, we will once again support our Bluebell Railway Santa Special, welcoming around 170 SEN children supported by 90 carers and 40 GLCT volunteers for a memorable festive day including the railway experience, entertainment and Christmas activities.
The Bikers Toy Run on 6 December will help bring donated gifts and Christmas cheer to children across the local area. Our Christmas Toy Project, taking place on 18 and 19 December, will then support approximately 150 children and teenagers helping ensure that children who may otherwise go without have something special to open on Christmas morning.
These projects depend heavily on the generosity of our volunteers, supporters and local businesses.
This year we expect around 30 volunteers to help us deliver our Christmas programme. As one of Gatwick Diamond Business's longest-standing charity members, we would love to build even stronger relationships with local businesses who want to volunteer, fundraise, sponsor activities or simply learn more about the work we do. Together, we can make Christmas a little brighter for local children.
