Get Sussex Working: A Shared Plan to Boost Employment

The Get Sussex Working Plan - Sussex’s local response to the Government’s Get Britain Working initiative - has now been published on the West Sussex County Council website.

The Plan has been shaped by the insight of stakeholders across Sussex, local labour market analysis, and alignment with national government priorities for tackling economic inactivity, boosting employment, and creating a more inclusive labour market.

Working together, West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, and Brighton & Hove City Council have set shared ambitions and local priorities to address challenges, make the most of opportunities, and use resources effectively.

The Plan outlines:

  • A coordinated, whole‑system approach involving councils, the NHS, Jobcentre Plus, employers, education, and community partners
  • Strategic ambitions to strengthen skills, employment, and job retention across Sussex
  • Localised action plans for each area, linked to the overall strategy.

The councils are grateful for the contributions that have helped shape this Plan, and look forward to continuing to work together with partners to deliver on these ambitions for Sussex.
