Community Spirit Shines at Dragon Boat Event

Sixteen businesses from across Sussex and Surrey came together at Tilgate Park for St Catherine's annual Dragon Boat event kindly sponsored by AJW, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, community spirit and a little healthy competition along the way.

After an exciting series of races, Siemens took home the winner's trophy, followed by Assurity Consulting and F3. We're incredibly grateful to everyone that took part and helped raise vital funds to support St Catherine's care for local people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Making Every Moment Matter

When Andrew shared his wish to marry his long-term partner, Jemma, while staying on our Ward, teams across the hospice came together to make it happen in just one week.

From the Ward and Wellbeing teams to colleagues in Catering and Facilities, staff worked together to create a beautiful wedding day for Andrew, Jemma and their young family. The celebration gave them precious time together and lasting happy memories, with Jemma describing how Andrew was surrounded by friends and loved ones as his wish to be married was fulfilled.

Make a Difference Through Corporate Volunteering

We are looking for corporate volunteers with access to a driver and van to support our annual Christmas Tree Collection service, taking place between Saturday 9 January and Tuesday 12 January.

By giving just one day of your time, you can help collect Christmas trees from local residents in exchange for a donation to St Catherine's. This popular community initiative helps raise vital funds while promoting environmentally friendly tree recycling.

You are welcome to bring a colleague or assistant to help. If you are unable to do so, we can arrange for a volunteer to support you on the day.

In addition, we are seeking groups of corporate volunteers throughout December to help distribute leaflets in the local area and raise awareness of the Christmas Tree Collection service. Leafleting can take place during normal working hours at times that suit your team.

Sussex football team Saltdean United FC will be raising awareness of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) during the 2026/27 season by proudly wearing the KSS logo on their shirts. The club kicked off their collaboration with KSS at a special charity match in aid of KSS against a Shepherd Neame XI on Saturday, 4 July. The match ended 2–2 and went to penalties, with the Shepherd Neame XI holding their nerve to win the shoot-out. It was also a win for KSS, with Saltdean United FC donating £500 and £1,304 being raised on the day.
