David is Co-Founder and Director of the Carnegie Group, where he leads Carnegie Steel Buildings, Carnegie Architecture, and BM Steels. With over 20 years in steel construction and 40 years as a small business owner, he brings a grounded, practical perspective to the Council - shaped by decades of hands-on experience across multiple trades and sectors.

He began his career as a farrier in the early 1980s, a craft that taught him the importance of trust, quality workmanship, and long-term relationships. While running his farriery business, David expanded into bespoke metalwork and fabrication, gradually growing the business that would become the Carnegie Group.

Outside of work, David enjoys time with family and indulging his passions - skiing in the winter and spending summer on the coast sailing.

David values collaboration, reliability, and contributing to a strong, connected business network - principles he hopes to bring to his role on the gdb Council.
