Walk Together for Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity – Special gdb Member Offer

Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity is calling on the local community to lace up their walking shoes and step forward for children with cerebral palsy, chromosome abnormalities and rare genetic disorders that cause physical impairment.

Walk Together takes place on Saturday 6th September 2025 and gives participants the chance to enjoy a scenic walk through Haywards Heath and Bolnore Village – all while raising vital funds. Some of the incredible children supported by the charity are on their journey to taking their first step – a moment every parent dreams of. By taking part, you’ll help more children reach that life-changing milestone.

With two routes to choose from, Walk Together is perfect for all abilities:

  • 5K accessible walk- A fully accessible walk through Bolnore Village, ideal for families, pushchairs, and wheelchair users.
  • 15K mixed-terrain trek- A more challenging route through Haywards Heath and Bolnore Village for those looking to push themselves.

Both walks start and end in Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, and promise a scenic tour around the area, highlighting the fantastic green spaces in our locality. An event like this is a great opportunity to get together with friends, family, or colleagues and have fun; use as a motivation to enjoy some gentle exercise; meet like-minded people and make new friends; give something back to your local community in support of local families; and reflect on the positive qualities in your own life.

RRT will be providing a free BBQ at the finish line, and all paying participants receive a medal.

Start location: Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, RH16 4LR
Start time: 11:30am

Entry: £20 per person (but just £10 for GDB members). Under 12s go free and dogs on leads welcome.

The charity receives no statutory funding and provides all services to families free of charge. Participants are kindly encouraged to raise £125, which could fund a vital paediatric physiotherapy session – helping a child sit unaided, hold a toy, or take their first steps.

Not a walker? Volunteers are also needed on the day – email molly.devine@dvlcc.org.uk to find out how you can help.
